Housing and the high rate of development in our city is a topic Sam hears most from residents. As Mayor, Sam will work to ensure that residents who grew up here, work here and choose to live here can afford to do so.
CITY PLANNER
Invest in our city’s future through hiring a city planner, a position that we need in our city given our size, rate of growth and development to ensure we are thinking holistically about the impact on our residents and how to bring a variety of voices together.
ADU ORDINANCE
Accessory dwelling unit (“in-law” apartments ordinance to allow for maximizing existing housing stock and provide more affordable options for families
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Support City Council’s higher percentage for affordable housing that developers build. Sam is a proponent of setting aside part of that percentage for very affordable housing through the inclusionary zoning ordinance to support workforce housing and remove the developer buyout option.
PUBLIC TRANSIT
Investing in public transit and last-mile connections to the Southborough Commuter Rail Station, microtransit and our pilot commuter rail shuttle.
